Timing: Spring 2019

Location: New York City

This Spring, Adam Port is establishing a pop-up studio in NYC on 34th (between Park & Madison) to create the first large scale painting in an exclusive series based on the sneaker culture.  Collectors, influencers, athletes and celebrities will be personally invited to the studio to explore the work and will be encouraged to share on social media.

Adam Port will create original content including photos and video of the painting process, to be used to amplify the narrative of this special project.

The original painting, commissioned by a corporate sponsor, will be raffled off and shipped out to the winner.

The primary goal is to create an immersive backdrop for product release, curation of original content, and to engage with existing users as well as attract new fans.

Painting Concept 1

First worn by Jordan in ‘84 and officially released in ‘85, the AJ1 is arguably the most popular sneaker of all time.  With it’s rich history and lore, these sneakers have become synonymous with greatness. Featured in the painting will be original, game worn sneakers by the GOAT himself.  Designed by Peter Moore, to say that this pair of sneakers is a work of art themselves would be an understatement.

Painting Concept 2

Countless color ways. Countless decisions. Ask any collector and they will tell you that they most certainly identify with this image and the feeling of indecision. This painting will feature a number of popular sneakers, sprawled out on the floor, leaving the viewer to ask themselves “which pair would I rock today?”

Painting Concept 3

Knowing the sneaker by its box separates the average buyer with a true collector. It’s also not uncommon to visit a collector’s closet and see stacks of boxes floor to ceiling.  This painting will showcase some of the most recognizable boxes ever designed, stacked on top of each other.

*Photos above are intended to represent the concepts.  Adam will photograph the chosen subject matter that will be used as reference for the original artwork.

Original content will be created and posted across social media throughout the project using a unique #.  The entire project will be documented using photos and videos.  Adam will record the process from start to finish, including:

• photographing the sneakers

• interacting with influencers, collectors and athletes/celebrities

• transforming retail space to studio

• Working on the painting

• Framing the painting

• Delivering to Raffle Winner

Users will be able to sign up for the raffle across social media platforms.

Adam Port is a NY based artist who is well known for his photorealistic paintings. Heir-apparent to the great modern masters of photorealist portraiture, Adam first burst on the art scene back in 2000 when he was discovered by a New York Knicks photographer and quickly earned a prestigious licensing agreement with the NBA. Today Port reigns as one of the nation’s premier artists, with a clientele that has included other influential entities like the Basketball Hall of Fame and Elvis Presley Enterprises, along with A-list stars like Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, and Ray Lewis.  In 2012, Port’s monumental painting “Ty Cobb Sliding” sold at auction for just shy of $25,000.

Adam’s painting Breakdance is currently on display at George Billis Gallery, located in the Chelsea Art District, NYC.
