ABOUT THE SNEAKER
On January 22, 2006, Kobe Bryant scored 81-points against the Toronto Raptors. That night he was wearing his first Nike signature shoe – The Nike Zoom Kobe 1.
The shoe was designed by Ken Link and featured a number of innovative technologies for the time, including a lightweight phylon midsole with Zoom Air cushioning in the forefoot and heel. The shoe also had a seamless upper made of synthetic leather and mesh, which provided a comfortable and supportive fit.
The Nike Zoom Kobe 1 “81 Points” is a special edition colorway of Kobe Bryant’s first signature shoe, released in 2019 to commemorate the 13-year anniversary of his 81-point game. The shoe features a predominantly white upper with black and varsity purple accents, a nod to the Lakers’ team colors.
