ABOUT THE COLLAB
This artwork was created in collaboration with Aaron “AC” Cooper, a longtime Nike designer whose career has spanned more than 25 years and includes contributions to some of the brand’s most iconic footwear. Cooper generously provided a pair of LeBron James’ original Air Zoom Generation sneakers from his personal archive as the reference for this painting, offering a rare opportunity to study and document every detail of LeBron’s first signature shoe. By combining Cooper’s firsthand connection to the sneaker’s history with Adam Port’s artistic process, this collaboration celebrates the design, craftsmanship, and legacy of one of basketball’s most influential silhouettes.
The composition of the painting was inspired by an early photograph of LeBron James during his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, capturing him soaring toward the basket for a breakaway dunk while wearing the Air Zoom Generation. That iconic moment represents the beginning of a legendary career and the debut of the signature sneaker that helped define a new era in basketball and footwear design.
