Diamond photos put on display
.
Charles M. Conlon was the first great baseball photographer, the Mathew Brady of his time, shooting early 20th century game action on New York’s major league fields. His full archive — much on glass negatives, including the famous Ty Cobb sliding into Jimmy Austin photo — is owned by Rogers Photo Archive, which is hosting a private showing at Openhouse Gallery tomorrow night. Cedarhurst (L.I.) artist Adam Port will also have original paintings on display, based on the Conlon art. A portion of sales will benefit Ronald McDonald House of New York.
